Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night. ~Edgar Allan Poe
Ooh! How long has it been? I can’t even remember the last time I wrote a blog post. Anyway, please excuse the absence of yours truly. I honestly don’t know if I should write a full post about where I’ve been, what I’m doing, and why I was missing from the blogging world these past few weeks. However, I just want to share with you guys what’s happening.
If in case I haven’t it shared yet, I have an obsession with sniffing scents but because I don’t want to own bottles and bottles of perfumes, I go with sampler sizes, those 5-sprays-and-then-it’s-gone-forever minis. I read that it’s actually free in the US, but those things are sold for a good amount here in the Philippines.
So, here’s the story. Last month, I was craving for a nice, fresh lavender scent but the sampler perfumes with lavender notes from my fave online shop were sold out so I looked for the next thing that I could think of, inhaler sticks. (Please note that I am not aware that essential oils exist at this point.) So, I got this lavender-infused inhaler and bought two pieces because the reviews were promising.
To cut the story short, it was a disaster. When the items arrived and I tried them, I felt as if I was smelling a cheap tree-shaped car freshener, chemical citrus with a dash of chemical lavender. It was awful and it made me nauseous. I was so disappointed with the product that I resorted to researching how it’s made and if I can make my own. Poof. Hello essential oils!
As a scent-enthusiast, one of my wildest dreams is to create my own blend and this month of September I am pushing this dream into reality (!!!)
I know, you may say, what?? But blending oils is a thing already! Oof! I guess the Philippines is a faraway country that I totally did not know! Seriously!
So anyway, here it is! This is the project that I have been working on lately and just a fun fact, it actually took me more than 20 trials just to finish one blend! I could not stop until I am fully satisfied with the scent and how it makes me feel. Although you may notice on the label stickers that there two oils for each blend but the truth is, each blend is composed of 5 different oils. I wanted to add more but oils are pricey so I settled with 5. Let’s see how far I’ll test things out in the future!
Now, I must admit, at first the intention was purely for personal consumption but because I felt deeply cheated with the lavender-infused inhaler that I bought which smelt of chemicals, I also felt sorry for the people who bought the item and highly rated it so I thought, maybe I can share my hand-crafted blends to my fellow Filipinos!
However, before I jumped into the idea I first took a health certificate on the fundamentals of Clinical Aromatherapy. I made a lot of research and studied for a bit. This is actually one of the main reasons why I’ve been missing in action. (Plus a few internal arguments with myself about whether I can actually go through this or I’ll be just flushing myself out, down the drain if I try.) I wanted to have some background because I don’t feel comfortable recommending and sharing my blends without basic medical knowledge on aromatherapy.
Essential oils are potent stuff and may cause all sorts of liver problems if not handled properly. I even slightly burned my fingers once because I had no idea that direct skin contact to undiluted oil is a huge no-no.
So, the question is, is it available already? YEEES!! You can get it via SHOPEE.PH CLICK HERE!
Three variants are available, DREAM, BREATHE, and FOCUS — all carefully blended and well-thought of. I especially love the DREAM blend because it took a lot of my brain cells to finish this one! It is heavy on the lavender but not overly aromatic. I guarantee a nice freshness and crispness to it. I love menthol-y inhalers but eucalyptus has this sharp, bitter-green character that travels down the throat, like you smell it but you feel the taste at the back of your tongue down to your throat. I’m not sure if that makes sense but I found a way how to tone it down!
Stocks will be limited, I hope you can grab one and share it with your love ones! Thank you so much for your support!
P.S. I know it sucks that I was not able to join the Shopee 9.9 Sale because my waybill printer took so long to arrive! Anyway, I’ll be back on my regular posting (hopefully!) so, see you!
